Cole Poitra, age 38, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023 at his home.

Cole James Poitra was born on July 13, 1984 in Belcourt, ND to Brenda Belgarde and Darren Poitra. He was raised in Belcourt and completed is education there as well, graduating from Belcourt High School in 2003. Cole enlisted in the United States Army National Guard in 2005 and received and honorable discharge in 2013. He was highly decorated obtaining the Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Cole enjoyed hunting and fishing, his Mt. Dew, and time with family and friends. He loved time spent with his mother and his nieces. Cole will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his family members and friends.

Cole is survived by his mother, Brenda Belgarde of Belcourt; siblings, Jennifer (Gary) Baker of Belcourt and Gavin Poitra of Belcourt; and his four nieces.

Cole was preceded in death by his father, Darren Poitra.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Dunseith, ND. Military Honors by the Lilley-Dionne American Legion Post 262 of Belcourt and the ND Military Funeral Honor Guard.
