Cleo Olson, age 94, of Belcourt, ND passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2025 at Quentin Burdick Memorial Hospital, Belcourt, ND.

Cleo Ruth Olson, born on January 13, 1931, in St. John, North Dakota, to Joseph and Ernestine (Houle) Azure. She was one of six children to the couple. Cleo's early education took place in boarding schools, and she later graduated from high school in Stefan, South Dakota. She later furthered her education at Turtle Mountain Community College in Belcourt, North Dakota. Cleo married Harland Olson, and together they raised ten children: Harold, Arlo, Renee, Harlene, Cindy, Sandy, Lori, Randy, Harland Jr., and Ina.

Throughout her life, Cleo engaged in various occupations, demonstrating versatility in her professional pursuits. A woman of strong faith, Cleo was deeply committed to St. Ann's Catholic Church and would go on to instill these values in her family. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Cleo took immense pride in her family's accomplishments and made every effort to attend their events, including sports competitions, music recitals, celebrations, and birthdays. Cleo's dedication to her family was evident in her consistent efforts to them. Whether it was through sending an ever-rising amount of Christmas and birthday cards or preparing numerous batches of her world-famous peanut brittle. She always approached these tasks with a smile on her face and a full heart, embodying the role of a loving and devoted family matriarch that she was.

Cleo is survived by her children, Harold Olson of Belcourt, Arlo (Vicky) Olson of Casper, WY, Renee Olson of Belcourt, Harlene (Pete) Davis of Belcourt, Cindy Olson of Belcourt, Sandy (Allen) Phillips of Mapleton, Lori (Carl) Beaver of Rolette, and Ina (Robert) Olson of Belcourt; 19 grandchildren, Sarah, Jody, Kristina, Arla, James, Lyndsay, Ferin, Adrienne, Jamie, Nathan, Tommie, Jessica, Adam, Raynee, Ashlee, Jacob, Bentley, Hope, and Shyann; 30 great grandchildren and counting; four great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Cleo was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ernestine Azure, husband, Harland Olson, sons, Harland Olson Jr. and Randy Olson, grandson, Joshua Olson, and siblings, Joe Azure, Andy Azure, George Azure, Flora Azure-Rhodes, and Alice Poitra.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND, with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and the Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Burial will follow funeral services at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery Belcourt, ND. A meal will be held at the Sky Dancer Casino Event Center, Belcourt, ND, following the burial services.
