Clarence Belgarde, age 75, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Quentin Burdick Memorial Hospital, Belcourt, ND.
Clarence Edward Belgarde was born on August 29, 1947 in Belcourt, ND to John and Gladys (Nikle) Belgarde. He was raised in Belcourt and completed his education there as well. Clarence enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1969 and received an honorable discharge in 1973. He was duly awarded a Purple Heart along with many other medals and awards during his military service, of which he was very proud. He was united in marriage to Suzanne Norris on January 23, 1971 in San Clemente, California. Together they raised two sons, Luke and Patrick. Clarence worked at the Belcourt Hospital as an x-ray technician for nearly 28 years, retiring in July of 2003. He was an active member of the VFW in Rolette County for many years. Clarence enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, picking mushrooms, fishing, and caring for his livestock. He liked black powder shooting as well. Clarence loved time spent with his wife, son, siblings, and friends. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Sue Belgarde of Belcourt; son, Luke (Mary) Belgarde of Belcourt; two grandsons, Rick and Seth Belgarde; siblings, Dennis Belgarde, Ann Belgarde, and Marie (Jesse Rios) Belgarde; and many nieces and nephews.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, John and Gladys Belgarde, son, Patrick Belgarde, brothers, Richard Belgarde, Raymond Belgarde, and infant brother, Joseph Belgarde, grandparents, Marciel and Philomene Belgarde and Andrew and Theresa Nikle, and sister-in-law, Jeannie Belgarde.
Casket Bearers are Joe Belgarde, Andrew Schroeder, Dennis Belgarde, Rick Belgarde, Seth Belgarde, and Clarence Schroeder. Honorary Bearers are all family and friends. Eucharistic Gifts by Dennis Belgarde. Readers are Tammie Morin and Maycee Morin. Rosary led by Charlie and Darlene Delorme. Music by Derrick Dixon. Military Honors by the Rolette County VFW and the ND Military Funeral Honor Team.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, May 12, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass. Burial and military honors will follow funeral services in the church cemetery. Father Richard Fineo presiding.
