Obituary

Clarabel Irene (Gebur) Fazekas (90) went to be with her beloved husband Art Fazekas on November 18, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was living in Longview, WA near her daughter and grandsons Chad Hogenson and family and Brett Hogenson. Clarabel was born February 4, 1929 to Joseph Gebur and Gladys (Givens) Gebur and grew up on the farm north of Rock Lake. Clarabel graduated in May 1947 from Rock Lake High School and was married to Art in June 1947. She and Art farmed together until retirement. She considered herself a "domestic engineer." She loved North Dakota and the life that she and Art had created for themselves. After retirement they moved into Rock Lake and lived there until they moved to Devils Lake.

Clarabel and Art loved children and were godparents to 11 children from various families. She loved spoiling and spending time with her grandsons when they came to the farm in the summer time. Besides farming, her passions were sewing, quilting, painting, flowers, gardening, baking, cooking, her family and friends.

Clarabel is survived by her daughter Marlyss Bailey, her grandson Chad Hogenson (Sarah), her great granddaughter Paige of Castle Rock, WA, her grandson Brett Hogenson, Longview, WA, her brother Wayne Gebur (Darlene) of Surrey, ND and her sister Janice Rood (Phil) of Albuquerque, NM.

Clarabel was preceded in death by her grandparents, son Lonnie, her parents Joseph and Gladys Gebur, her brother Dallas, her sister Claudia Hunt (Dick) and her sister Diane Benneweis (Calvin).

A celebration of life will be held in April, 2020. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to donor's choice in Clarabel's memory.
