Cindy Malaterre, age 64, of Belcourt, ND, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026 at her home.

Cindy Lou Malaterre was born on April 18, 1962 in Belcourt, ND to Andrew and Rosella (Bercier) Malaterre. She was raised in Belcourt and graduated from Belcourt High School. She furthered her education at Turtle Mountain College in Belcourt. Cindy was the proud mother of four children, Kristy, Jesse, Paul, and Harley. Cindy was a wonderful mother and homemaker for many years. She served on the Tribal Council for six years, dedicating her time and efforts to those around her. Cindy enjoyed working on her home, loved Christmas time with family and friends, and doing toy drives for many children throughout the area through Turtle Island Toy Drive. She dearly loved her family and the time they were able to spend together. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Cindy is survived by her children, Jesse Malaterre of Belcourt, Paul Malaterre of Indianapolis, IN, and Harley St. Claire of Belcourt; 12 grandchildren; siblings, Walter “Jack” (Crystal Blue) Malaterre of Belcourt, Margaret Malaterre of Omaha, NE, and Joseph “JR” (Valerie) Malaterre of Rolla; and nieces and nephews.

Cindy was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Kristy Malaterre, grandchildren, Colby Nadeau, Shaylynn Thomas, and Chloe Delonais, sisters, Ivy Malaterre and Janice Malaterre, brother, Ivan Malaterre, and grandparents, Paul Sr. and Mable (Wilkie) Bercier.

Casket Bearers are Jesse Malaterre Jr., Harley St. Claire, Tyler Brien, Sam Malaterre, Jack Malaterre, and Joseph Malaterre.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass. Burial will follow funeral services at St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.
