Cheryl Rose Oslin, age 63, of Rolla, ND passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
Cheryl Rose Oslin (Wanapi) was born on January 23, 1962 in Rolette County to Joseph Wanapi Sr. and Mary Wanapi (Mekwam). Cheryl grew up in the Rolla/Belcourt area and attended the Belcourt school system.
On December 20th, 1988, Cheryl married Jim Oslin. Together the two owned several businesses under Native Dream Enterprises which included a carpet cleaning service, a consignment store, and a small newspaper. Cheryl and Jim liked to travel which included trips to both Australia and Jamaica. Cheryl and Jim were well known in the area because of their involvement in the community. While Cheryl and Jim never had biological children, they served as foster parents for several years.
After Jim's passing, Cheryl spent most of her time with family. She loved having a full house and especially enjoyed time with her nieces and nephews, who loved her dearly. When Cheryl wasn't spending time with family, she enjoyed watching professional football and was an avid Dallas Cowboy's fan.
Cheryl is survived by her brother, John Wanapi of Belcourt; and nieces and nephews, Angelique Davis (Debra Bigelow-Davis) of Grand Forks, Deena Davis (Jeremy Sankey) of Thief River Falls, MN, Mary Wanapi of Dunseith, ND, John Wanapi Jr. of Dunseith, Sara LaVallie (Edward LaVallie), Thomas Poitra, Keven Poitra, and, Manasseh Peltier (Sadie Smith).
Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Wanapi (Mekwam), father, Joseph Wanapi, brother, Joseph Wanapi Jr, as well as, maternal and paternal grandparents.
Pallbearers are John Wanapi Jr., Jerry Laverdure, Martin Henry, Manesseh Peltier, Edward LaVallie, and Thomas Poitra. Honorary Bearers are John Wanapi Sr., Angelique Davis, Deena Davis, nieces and nephews, Mary Wanapi.
A visitation will be held at 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 7, 2025 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with Father Michael Slovak presiding. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.
