Charles "Chucky" DeCoteau, age 63, of Belcourt, ND passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Quentin Burdick Memorial Health Care Facility, Belcourt, ND.

Charles "Chucky" Richard DeCoteau was born on April 27, 1960 in Belcourt, ND to Richard (Popcorn) DeCoteau and Theresa (Laducer) Frederick. He was raised in Belcourt and completed his education there as well.  Chucky met Shelley Morin and together they raised three children, Rae, Kayla, and Chelsi, supporting each other and loving their family for nearly 40 years.  Chucky worked road construction, maintenance at Sky Dancer Casino for over 20 years, and maintenance for the Turtle Mountain Tribe for several years before retiring.  He also served in Tribal Government for two years as a District 2 representative.  Chucky loved the outdoors, playing golf, doing yard work, ice fishing, and going for walks often.  He enjoyed exercise, often going to the fitness center in the early morning hours each day.  Watching his children complete their education at a higher level made him incredibly proud and he loved watching his grandchildren compete in sporting events.  Chucky had a wonderful sense of humor, often the jokester in the room.  He was an avid MN Vikings fan and on occasion enjoyed cleaning out cars to keep busy.  Chucky will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his family members and many friends.

Chucky is survived by his loving companion, Shelley Morin of Belcourt; children, Rae DeCoteau, Kayla (Ike) Trottier and Chelsi DeCoteau, all of Belcourt; eight grandchildren, Hallie, Tatelyn, Tayven, Kaizyn, Gracie, Ike, Elli, and Emmi; sisters, Barbara (Jeff) Poitra of Harvey and Karen (Eugene) Poitra of Belcourt; nieces and nephews; and two uncles, Melvin Laducer and Linus Laducer.

Chucky was preceded in death by his parents, Richard (Popcorn) DeCoteau and Theresa Frederick, step father, Edward Frederick, nephew, Baby Gene Poitra, and grandparents, Albert and Annie Laducer and Paul and Rosena DeCoteau.

Casket Bearers are Ryan Parisien, Cody Laducer, Curt Poitra, Cory Gourneau, Derrick Poitra, and Spencer Laducer. Honorary Bearers are Ron Trottier Sr., Duane Marcellais, Jeffery Laducer, and all friends and family. Music by David Blake Azure, Jerry Parisien, and Chad Marcellais.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Burial will follow funeral services at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND. A meal will follow at the Fiddlers Hall in Belcourt, ND. Father Tony Hession presiding.
