Charles Huovinen, age 65, of Rock Lake, ND passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022 near Rock Lake, ND.

Charles Marvin "Chuck" Huovinen was born on November 10, 1956 in Rolla, ND to Richard and Jenny (Cain) Huovinen.  He was raised in Rock Lake and graduated from Rock Lake High School in 1975.  He enlisted in the United States Navy serving active duty for one year, reserves for four years, and then 5 years in the guard until receiving his honorable discharge.  He was very proud of his military service. Charles worked for Cross Roads Construction in Utah where he became the proud father of a daughter, Meghan, his "baby girl."  He later became a grandfather to Sylas and the two of them were his pride and joy.  After his discharge from the military, he managed the bar is Hansboro and then moved to work as a welder near Dickinson on the oil rigs.  He obtained his welding certificate from Williston University.  In 1999 following an accident at work, he moved back home to become a 4 ^th generation farmer on the family farm.  Charles worked side by side with Greg Rham for many years, learning and contributing, as well as Jim Seghers, both of them cherished friends.  Charles enjoyed working with his hands, remodeling and other various projects.  He enjoyed Sundays at the Hansboro Bar, taking in football, fellowship, and food.  He enjoyed the time he spent visiting and cooking for his Hansboro family, as they were all close to his heart and loved.  Charles will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his family members and many friends.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Meghan (Brian) Huovinen-Zufelt of Rock Lake; grandson, Sylas Huovinen-Zufelt; siblings, Robert "Jeff" Huovinen of Rolla, Tina (David) Walock of Lakeview, MN, and Tami Huovinen of Rolla; and nephews, AJ Walock and Andrew Walock; and honorary brothers, Jim Seghers and Greg Rham.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Jenny Huovinen, brothers, Richard John and Curtis Mark Huovinen, and grandparents, Alma and John Huovinen and Warren and Gladys Cain.

Casket Bearers are Jim Seghers, Scott Hanlan, Curt Disher, Mark Mattson, Robert Hendrickson, Mike Johnson, AJ Walock, and Andrew Walock.  Honorary Bearers are Lynn Samuelson, Greg Rham, Russ Lund, Todd Griffin, and Jerry Berg.  Music by Stacy Soukup.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11:00 AM in All Nations Lutheran Church, Rock Lake, ND with visitation One Hour prior to services in the church, with a lunch immediately following at the church.  Pastor Scott Ramey officiating. If unable to attend the church services a gathering will begin at 5:00 PM at the Hansboro Bar celebrating the life of Charles.  A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring for burial in Mount View Cemetery, Perth, ND followed by a reception at the farm.
