Chanel Davis, 51, passed away on November 28,2022 at Essentia Health in Fargo, North Dakota.

Chanel Michelle Davis (Flying Girl) was born on June 21, 1971 in Belcourt, North Dakota to Kenneth (Kenny) and Rose Marie (Henry) Davis. Chanel was very close to her Auntie Debby and referred to her as her second mother. She graduated high school in Rocky Boy, Montana where she was an outstanding athlete and received many accolades. Chanel furthered her education and received her Associates Degree as a dental assistant from Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas. She worked as a dental assistant at Indian Health Service and private dental offices and later became the caregiver for her father.

Chanel was blessed with a son, Jade. She was joined in marriage with Chris Schmitz, with whom she shared a son, Tristan. The couple shared many great years together before later divorcing. She was very proud of both her boys, as she spoke very highly of the both of them. She loved both of them very much.

Chanel loved her family and playing softball and basketball. She enjoyed going to the casino whenever she got the chance. Spending time with her grandchildren was the thing she loved the most. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she enjoyed taking and sharing their pictures. She had Kenleigh taking selfies before she turned one. She had a wild sense of humor and a laugh so contagious; she could giggle and make anyone who was around her laugh. She shared a special bond with her best friend, Shannon Gillis. There wasn't a night that went by where you couldn't hear Chanel laughing from her room for hours while talking to Shannon on the phone. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Chanel is survived by her parents, Kenneth (Kenny) and Rose Davis of Fargo, ND; children, Jade (Megan) Davis of Belcourt, ND and Tristan Schmitz of Annandale, MN; grandchildren, Jade II, Roslyn, Kenleigh, and Rya; sister, Stephanie Tikayne of Cannonball, ND and brother Ryan (Alicia) Bruns of Mellette, South Dakota; uncles Larry (Kathy) Henry, Martin Henry. Robert Henry and Aunts Carol Davis, Debbie (Dewey) Hosie, Sharon (Terry) Elk, Theresa Henry, Julia Henry, Roxanne Henry, and Nancy Henry; as well as nieces and nephews, and many cousins.

Chanel is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents James and Sally Henry; paternal grandparents Bill and Louise Davis; uncles Lynn, James, and Allen "Kumish" Davis, and aunt Norma Jean Grant.

Casket Bearers are Clinton Jerome, Darrell Davis, Joe Davis, Leonard Hosie, Thomas Henry & Travis Henry.

Honorary Casket Bearers are all cousins, family, friends, all firekeepers, and drum group.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Friday, December 2, 2022 at the Fiddlers Hall Belcourt, ND. A meal will follow the celebration of Chanel's life. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
