Obituary

Carol Rose (DeCoteau) DeLong Grant, age 73, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Quentin Burdick Memorial Hospital, Belcourt, ND.

Carol Rose was the 7 th child to Edward and Caroline (Brunelle) DeCoteau, born on December 15, 1948 in Belcourt, ND.  She entered into the spirit world on October 30, 2022. Carol Rose attended school at St. Ann's Catholic School, completed her GED, and two years of business school at TMCC in Belcourt.  She retired after 23 years of employment at Turtle Mountain Housing.  Carol Rose married Darrell DeLong and together they had six children, Anna, Anthony, Shane, Christopher, Darrell Jr., and Caroline.  They later divorced and she married Sylvester "Buzz" Grant.

Carol Rose was a kind, beautiful, and classy lady who always had a big smile and a hug for everyone.  She was someone who never hesitated to help anyone in need.  She was a very dedicated homemaker, always cooking and canning.   Carol Rose could make a meal of nothing.  She always had a houseful on Sunday's and always made everyone feel at home.  The holidays were excellent at her home where everyone used to gather.  She would start making pies and bread days before the meals and everyone enjoyed it all.

Carol Rose had numerous hobbies, Friday night card games, playing at the casino, fishing, camping, taking care of her yard, planting flowers and trees, decorating, playing guitar and singing with family, making quilts for her children and grandchildren, and just sitting around visiting with friends and family.  Carol Rose had a wonderous strength and faith which she tried to pass on to her children.  When she said the Rosary, she would always kneel down.  She will be surely and truly missed by all who loved her.  When she said good-night, you left with a kiss, a hug, and she would always make a cross on your forehead and say in her quiet voice, "God bless you."

Carol Rose is survived by her husband, Sylvester "Buzz" Grant of Belcourt; children, Anna (Orville) Davis of Dunseith, Anthony DeLong of Purvis, MS, Christopher DeLong of Belcourt, and Caroline (Robert) DeLong of Belcourt; grandchildren, Sarah Belgarde, Philip (Robin Cogburn) Belgarde, Courtney Belgarde, Anthony DeLong Jr., Amber Patnaude, Michael Patnaude, Carol Rose DeLong, Christiana DeLong, Chris DeLong Jr., Vance DeLong, Heather (Jack) Counts, Ashley (Jon) Nadeau, Erin (Tyler) Whiteley, and Tiffany (Marvin) Davis; eleven great grandchildren, Jacie Longie, Jayden Longie, Jalon Belgarde, Michael Belgarde, Colen Belgarde, Kenleigh Belgarde, Kynden Belgarde, Malanie Belgarde, Kendell Belgarde, and Kyleigh Belgarde; Godchildren, Jered Morin, Edward DeCoteau, Kaytie Rose DeCoteau; brothers, Robert (Andrea) DeCoteau, Steven DeCoteau, and Wally (Roberta) DeCoteau; sisters, Phyllis (Dal) Brien, Linda DeCoteau, Claudia DeLong, Marla DeCoteau, Wanda DeCoteau and Susan Delorme; and numerous nieces and nephews.
