Obituary

Carleen Parisien, age 72, of Belcourt, ND passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 7, 2022 at St. Alexius Health in Bismarck, ND.

Carleen A. Parisien was born on April 1, 1949 in Minot, ND to Jack and Alma (Grant) Peterson.  She was raised in Belcourt and obtained her GED there as well.  She furthered her education at Turtle Mountain Community College obtaining an Associate of Science and Associate of Arts degree.  Carleen was united in marriage to C. Joe Parisien on September 2, 1967 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Belcourt. Together they raised four beautiful children, Nada, Nadine, Billie Jo, and Bobby Joe.  Carleen loved every minute of the last 54 years with her husband Joe, their children, and grandchildren.  Her grandchildren brought her so much joy and she in return was the "best grandma" around, lovingly referred to as "Gaga."  Carleen worked at the Ojibwa Indian School for over 25 years as a parent coordinator.  She enjoyed baking, sewing, crocheting, swap-n-shop, and, of course, her favorite Klondike ice cream bars.  She was a very welcoming person, always having time to stop and visit with those around her.  Carleen will be deeply missed by her family members and lovingly remembered by all.

Carleen is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, C. Joe Parisien of Belcourt; children, Nada Parisien of Belcourt, Billie Jo (Randall) DeCoteau of Belcourt, and Bobby Joe Parisien of Rolette; eight grandchildren, Mark Allery Jr., Jacie Parisien, Noah Parisien, Avery Parisien, Sofia Parisien, Layla Parisien, Angelique Parisien, and Shaun Parisien; siblings, Cornelius (Rosie) Grant of Bismarck, William Peterson Jr. of Belcourt, Lana (Mick) DeCoteau of Belcourt, and Toni (Kevin) Nelson of Bottineau; and many nieces and nephews.

Carleen was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Alma Peterson, daughter, Nadine Parisien, sisters, Lisa Laducer, Mary Jane Necaise, Donna Mae Johnson, and infant sister, Mary Alice Peterson.
