Obituary

Carla Jean (Davis) Wilkie, age 55, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Trinity Hospital, Minot, ND.

On February 12, 1967, Carla was born at Presentation Medical Center in Rolla, North Dakota.  Carla was the daughter of Lloyd Sr. and Alice (Wallette) Davis.  She was united in marriage to Ronald Wilkie Jr. on February 6, 2006. On December 13, 2008, they decided to bless their marriage in the Catholic Church.  It stormed on both their wedding days, trapping family and friends who traveled to celebrate these joyous occasions.  Ronald and Carla have two beautiful children, Ronald III and Justice.  They also have a granddaughter, Zynarah "Sweets" Wilkie.  Carla adored them all deeply and cherished the time they shared.  Carla enjoyed taking trips with her husband to the Pacific Northwest (Washington and Oregon) with their private guide, Annette Wilkie.   She also enjoyed playing bar bingo, pool, gambling at casinos, and attending concerts.  Carla loved attending sporting events to support her nieces and nephews, always one of their biggest supporters.  Riding side-by-side for trail rides and camping was also a favorite of Carla's.  She loved gambling on holidays and spending time with family and friends.  Carla adored her parents and siblings, visiting and caring for her mother and sister, Lonna Jo.  She was always there for others when they needed her.

Carla attended grade school at Ojibwa Indian School, where she graduated from 8 th grade.  She graduated from Turtle Mountain Community High School in 1985.  Carla's class was the first to graduate from the Turtle Mountain High School building, the current Turtle Mountain Middle School.   After that, she attended Lake Region State College and was the girls' basketball team manager; she followed her cousin, Colleen Chaske, who played basketball.  She then went to the University of North Dakota and Turtle Mountain Community College.  Carla started working at the Turtle Mountain Tribe on November 4, 1997 as an Administrative Assistant, where she stayed for 24 years.

Carla is survived by her husband, Ronald Wilkie Jr.; son, Ronald Wilkie III; daughter, Justice Wilkie; granddaughter, Zynarah "Sweets" Lee Wilkie; mother, Alice Davis; sisters, RoseAnn (Ronnie) Trottier and Lonna Jo Davis; brother, Lloyd Jr. (Misti) Davis; brother-in-law, Art Crissler, Lee Wilkie, Ronald Fred Wilkie, James (Fong) Williams, and Donovan Gourneau; mother-in-law, Jeanie Gourneau; mother-in-law, Cheryl Wilkie; sister-in-law, Sandra Wilkie, Michelle (Dean) Azure, Jennifer Wilkie, Kateri Doll, and Lynette Gourneau.

Carla was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Davis Sr., grandparents, Peter and Alma Davis and Elmer and Mary Wallette, father-in-law, Ronald Wilkie Sr., father-in-law, Lindsay Gourneau, sister-in-law, Yolanda McKinney, many aunties and uncles, and one of her best friends, Luella Allick.

Eulogy by Annette Wilkie.  Pallbearers are Ronald Wilkie III, Jesse Wilkie, Kenny Baker, Louie DeCoteau, Ronald Trottier Jr., Evan Davis, TiRay Azure, Thayne LaRocque, Tristin Davis, and Trayor Allery.  Honorary Pallbearers are Lloyd Davis Jr., Houston Davis, Hayden Davis, Daniel Davis, Travis Azure, Lorenzo Lunday, Marlin Allery, David Wallette, Harold Wallette, Debbie and Tony LaVallie, Freddy and Annette Wilkie, Brion and Rosalyn Smith, Jolleen and Waylon St. Claire, Lisa Chaske, Dakota McKay, Joseph and Marnie Lawrence, Cheryl Lawrence, and Cecelia Graybill.  Godchildren are Rainy Allery, Johnna GoodIron, Evan Davis and Hayden Gourneau.  Godparents are the late Frank and Amelia Allard.  Drum Group is Sloughfoot.  Musicians are Jeanie Azure, Betty Hamley, Craig Lunday, Chad Marcellais, Leonard Keplin, and Terry Baker.  Special friends are the Nelson Family, the Allick Family, Brooke DeCoteau, Alma GoodIron, Lynea Crissler, Sharon Keplin, Sherry Baker, Alicia Davis, LaDots Barbie's-Pool Team, LaDots Sunday Vikings Fans, Tecites, Cursillo Family, and Life in the Spirit Family.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM (led by nieces and great nieces) prior to the funeral mass.  Burial will be in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.  Father Michael Slovak presiding.
