Obituary

Brooke Elise Henry was born on November 8 th , 1998 in Belcourt, North Dakota to Clinton Henry and Richelle Keplin-Gillis. Brooke grew up in the Turtle Mountain area surrounded by her loving family and friends. Brooke was the most loving and accepting person, and many would agree. As an adorable baby, her hair did not grow in for a few years and she was quite shy. Her family remembers a quote from her from a child as "Don't look at me", that she used when too much attention was on her. Her shyness disappeared as she flourished into a beautiful, outgoing young woman. She was strong spirited and always fought for what was right, especially for those she loved.

Brooke graduated, with honors, in 2017 from Dunseith High School. She continued her education at North Dakota State University, later transferring to the Turtle Mountain Community College to work towards her college degree.

Brooke was an employee at the SkyDancer Casino, Belcourt. She was also employed at First Light Home Care where she enjoyed providing health support for individuals within the community. She was a dedicated volleyball coach for Dunseith High School in recent years where she enjoyed working with the youth and was a positive role model.

Brooke's passions included an abundance of ideals and, of course, her fashion. She was always a strong advocate when it came to LGBTQ rights and was never afraid to speak up for what she believed. Aside from her advocacy work, Brooke was always one to shock with her beauty - from her adorable dimples, beautiful blue eyes, to those bold lashes she never left the house without. Brooke had this bubbly personality that always gave light to any room she walked in. She had a sense of humor that would fill the room with laughter until our stomachs were sore. She was absolutely perfect.

Brooke is survived by her Mother and Father, Clinton Henry and Richelle Keplin-Gillis (Chris Gillis Sr.); TJ Poitra; her Grandparents, Ted and MaryAnn Henry, Joy Keplin, Richard Keplin (Shirley), Alfred Lafountain, Curtis Poitra, and the late Linda Poitra, Myrtle Gillis and the late Fritz Gillis; her brothers and sisters Maisie, Lainey, Jaylee, Tracen; step-brothers and sisters Brandy, Chris Jr., Nevin, Christin, Ethan, Ireland, and Seth; seven nieces and nephews; her aunts and uncles, KK Keplin (Joy), Kayla Ridgely, Jennifer Henry, Ryan Henry (Kirstin), Tyler Henry; her Poitra and Gillis families;  her special friend Lane Poitra; and her beloved fur baby, Ace/Dave.
