Brenda Crissler, age 53, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

Brenda Marie Crissler was born on February 10, 1967 in Belcourt, ND to Louis Claude Jr. and Arlis (Belgarde) Crissler.  She attended school at Turtle Mountain Community School in Belcourt and obtained her GED.  Brenda met Robert Wade Poitra in 1983.  Together they raised five children, Wade, Waylon, Wyatt, Sadie, and Wesley.  She worked as a dispatcher for BIA Law Enforcement from 1999 to 2020.  Brenda loved crocheting, baking, rummaging and spending time with her family and grandchildren, Mylee, Allie, Shaylon, Ashtyn, Stormi, Collins, and Maddyn.  Brenda will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her lifelong partner, Robert, children, grandchildren, her work family at the Belcourt Police Department, and friends.  Brenda had a big heart, always willing to help others and put those she loved first.

Brenda is survived by her lifelong partner, Robert Wade Poitra of Belcourt; sons, Wade (Jordan) Crissler of St. John, Waylon (Jade) Poitra of Larimore, Wyatt Poitra and Wesley Crissler, both of Belcourt; daughter, Sadie Poitra of Belcourt; grandchildren, Mylee, Allie, Shaylon, Ashtyn, Stormi, Collins, and Maddyn; sisters, Connie Belgarde, Carol (Glen Allard) Crissler of Belcourt, Sherry Crissler and Angie (Ron Nielson) Crissler, all of Belcourt; many nieces and nephews; Brenda was especially close to her nephew Chad (Tammy Dauphinais) Crissler of Belcourt and niece Ronette (Wayne Davis) Nielsen of Belcourt.

Brenda was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joseph and Mary Belgarde and Claude and Ida Crissler of Belcourt, her parents, Louis Claude Crissler Jr. and Arlis Crissler of Belcourt.

A visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.  A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND on Wednesday, August 5, 2020.
