Obituary

Bertha Sharon Herman, age 70, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023 at the Quentin N. Burdick Memorial Hospital, Belcourt, ND.

Bertha Sharon Herman was born on January 23, 1952 in Belcourt, ND to Roy and Roselda (LeDoux) Herman. She was raised in Belcourt and attended Houle School. She was the proud mother of eight children, Nancy, Shanda, Jodi, Gary, Chad, Kelly, Cory, and Blakely.  Bertha was employed as a custodian for the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa for over 20 years. After she retired from the tribe, she started working at the Belcourt Soup Kitchen as a cook/prep-cook preparing meals for the Belcourt community.

In her free time, Bertha loved going to the horse races, playing bingo, going to the casino, and traveling to various places with her two side-kicks, Velma and Delilah. Bertha loved spending time with all her children, grandchildren, family, and friends. No matter what the circumstances, Bertha had a great big heart of gold and would do ANYTHING for ANYONE with no questions asked.  She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by all.

Bertha is survived by her children, Nancy (Russel) Charette, Shanda DesJarlais, Jodi (John) Swain, Gary (Tammie) Desjarlais, Chad (Jeanette) Desjarlais, Cory (Roxane) Morin, and Blakely Morin all of Belcourt; siblings, Joe (Gertrude) Herman, Robert "Butch" (Jo Poitra) Herman, Steve Herman, Roy Herman, Thomas Herman, Velma (Earl) Wilkie, Debbie (Duane) Longie, and Delilah (Dean) Martin all of Belcourt; and many grandchildren/great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Roselda (LeDoux) Herman, daughter, Kelly Morin, and brother, Cletus Herman.

Funeral arrangements made by Elick Funeral Home, Rolla, ND.  Visitation and a mass will be held for Bertha on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the St. John Church.  Officiating priest will be Father Fineo.  Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., recitation of the rosary will be at 10:00 a.m., and a mass at 11:00.  A meal will follow at the Fiddler's Hall in Belcourt, ND.
