Arthur Raymond Tuomala, age 99, of Rolla, ND passed away Saturday, September 5, 2026, at his home, surrounded by family.

Arthur was born on February 3, 1927, in Mount View Township, Towner County, ND to William and Wilhelmina (Tapanila) Tuomala. He was raised on a farm north of Perth (a farm his grandparents homesteaded). He attended elementary school at Lakeview #2 and completed his education upon graduation from Rolla High School in 1945. He enlisted in the United States Army and served during WWII. After military service, he furthered his education in Chicago at Greer Tech, specializing in mechanics and welding. He was united in marriage to Lillian Yliniemi and together they raised three children, Michael, Deborah, and Jon. Art was the owner and operator of Tuomala Plumbing & Heating in Rolla, which he started in 1962. He also farmed his entire life starting farming using horses to using high horsepower highly automated equipment. He enjoyed working in the field and operating the tractor. Art was a community-minded person. He was a family man, loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and siblings, all bringing so much love and joy to his life. He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Art is survived by his children, Michael (Julie Ohm) Tuomala of Rolla, Deborah (Jeff) Wallace of Rolla, Jon Tuomala of Rolla; three grandchildren Corissa (Mike) Schnell of Rochester, MN, Jessica (Cory) Restad of St. John's, FL and Linnea (Craig Divine) Wallace of Overland Park, KS: seven great-grandchildren, Madden Schnell, Medora Schnell, Rhett Restad, Reagan Restad, Micol Divine, Lucas Divine, Sadie Divine; sister, Jean Parvey of Anoka, MN; brother Marvin Tuomala of Westminster, CA; brother-in-law, Don Gottsman of Detroit Lakes, MN; sister-in-law's Jean Tuomala of Perth, ND, Connie Tuomala of Mankato, MN and Marian Tuomala of Coon Rapids, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, Lillian Tuomala, brothers, William Tuomala Jr., Ernest Tuomala, Reino Tuomala and Wilfred Tuomala, brother-in-law's Art Parvey and John Kangas, sister-in-law's Glenna Tuomala, Lydia Kangas and Delores Gottsman.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Rolla, ND. Christina Hunt officiating.

Family requests no flowers. Memorial Donations preferred to the Finnish Cemetery, Rolla Fire Department or donors’ choice.
