Arne Lee LaRocque, age 67, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Quentin Burdick Memorial Health Care Facility, Belcourt, ND.
Arne Lee LaRocque was born on September 20, 1955 in Berkley, Calif. To Jimmie and Bernadine (Brunelle) LaRocque. Arne grew up in the Bay area near San Fransisco, CA as well as on the Turtle Mountain Chippewa Reservation. Arne was a talented athlete where he had a successful wrestling career in California. After graduating high school in California, he moved to New Mexico where he worked in a mine extracting uranium ore. Arne married Sylvia Ortega and has three sons Arnie jr., Conrad, and Kyris. Arne later transferred to Idaho where he worked as a professional musician. He loved to play music with his father and brothers. He was known for his generosity. Arne cared deeply for his parents and supported then whenever he was able. His friendly and easy-going nature was perhaps his greatest strength. He told endless stories and filled the room with laughter and goodwill.
Arne is survived by his children, Arne LaRocque Jr. and Kyris LaRocque, both of Richmond, CA; siblings, Darlene LaRocque of Rolette, James LaRocque, Lin LaRocque, Brian LaRocque, Denver LaRocque, Wylee Roy all of Belcourt, Brent LaRocque of Aberdeen, SD, and Regina LaRocque of Martinez, CA; and many nieces and nephews.
Arne was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie LaRocque and Bernadine Morin, sons, Shawn Lee and Conrad Howard, and brother, Ronnie Counts.
A visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the spring.
