Anthony Poitra Sr., age 67, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025 at St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck, ND.

Anthony "Tony" Lee Poitra, Ozhaawashko Anakwaad "Blue Cloud," was born on January 12, 1958 in Belcourt, ND to Dominic and Ruth (Wallette) Poitra.  He was raised in Belcourt and completed his education there as well.  Tony furthered his education for two years at Turtle Mountain College.  He was united in marriage to Gladys DeCoteau on November 19, 1978.  He was the proud father of Charlissa, Nicole, Anthony Jr., Dustin, Jessica, and an infant son, Edward.  Tony worked at the Skydancer Casino in Belcourt for over 30 years, retiring in 2020.  He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, and going golfing in his younger years.  Tony loved all sports. In football he cheered for his Broncos and NDSU Bison. Tony also enjoyed basketball and all girls and boys sports. He collected coins and loved spending time with his family and friends.  Tony will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Tony is survived by his children, Charlissa DeCoteau of Belcourt, Nicole Thiefoe of Belcourt, Anthony Jr. (Carla) Poitra of Belcourt, Dustin Poitra of Belcourt, and Jessica (Robert Lilley) Poitra of Dunseith; 17 grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, Autumn, Summer, Kobe, Madison, Toni, Taylee, Jeremy, Ian, Dustin Jr., Shanice, Baily, Wyatt, Traci, Lee, and Braiden; 13 great grandchildren; siblings, Gordon (Annette) Wallette of Washington, Ronald (Tessie) Poitra of Belcourt, Michael Poitra Sr. of Belcourt, Bill Poitra Sr. of Belcourt, and Tina Poitra of Belcourt; and nieces and nephews.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gladys Poitra, infant son, Edward Poitra, brother, Dominic Poitra Jr., and two grandchildren, Kyra DeCoteau and Weston Thiefoe.

Casket Bearers are Bill Poitra Jr., Austin Poitra, Tyler Brien, Frank Poitra, Ronald Poitra Jr., Shawn Poitra, Wally DeCoteau Jr., and Dustin Poitra. Special music by Chad Marcellais. Eucharistic Gifts by daughters and granddaughters. Rosary led by Roberta DeCoteau and granddaughters.

A visitation will begin at 6:30 PM on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.  Funeral Mass will be Monday, October 13, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND.  Burial to follow the funeral mass at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND. Father Micheal Slovak, SOLT presiding. A meal will follow burial services at Fiddler's Hall, Belcourt, ND.
