Allan McGillis Sr., age 68, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at the Belcourt Hospital, Belcourt, ND.

Allan Gregory McGillis Sr. was born on March 21, 1953 in Belcourt, ND to William and Sylvia (Trottier) McGillis.  He was raised in St. John and completed his education there as well, graduating from St. John High School.  He furthered his education at Turtle Mountain Community College for two years.  Allan was united in marriage to Deborah Bercier on May 10, 1973 in Rolla.  Together they raised three children, Tracy, William, and Allan Jr.  He worked various jobs throughout the years and was skilled in welding.  Allan enjoyed listening to music and working on crossword puzzles.  He loved time spent with his family members, especially his great grandchildren, often sitting on the floor playing with them.  Allan also liked watching westerns.  He will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Allan Sr. is survived by his loving wife, Debbie McGillis of Belcourt; six grandchildren, Kelsey, Kaitlyn, Kaileigh, Summer, Gregory, and Cheyenne; two great grandchildren, Drayton and Zailyn; and siblings, Shirley Martell of Belcourt, Roger McGillis of Belcourt, and Richard McGillis of Grand Forks.

Allan Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, William and Sylvia McGillis, daughter, Tracy McGillis, and sons, William McGillis and Allan McGillis Jr.; grandchildren, Callan John McGillis and Loyalty K. Abrahamson.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with Father Tony Hession presiding.  Burial will follow services at St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.
