Alice (Parisien) Renault, age 85, of Dunseith, ND passed away on Thursday, May 20 ^th , 2021 at Trinity Medical Center, Minot, ND surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with COPD, a lung disease.

Alice was born on January 19 ^th , 1936 in Belcourt, ND.  She was raised in the Catholic faith.  She had four siblings, Mary Rose, Emma, May, and Albert.

Her first language was Michif and she was one of the last fluent speakers of Michif, which is a mixture of the Canadian French and Chippewa/Cree languages.  Alice graduated from Turtle Mountain Community Schools in 1956.  She then attended Business College in Oakland, CA.

Alice was united in marriage to Stephen Renault on June 10 ^th , 1961 in California.  Together they had six children, Stephan, Wade, Curtis, a set of twins, Terry and Carey, and Alan.  Alice worked at the Dunseith Schools, BIA Social Services Agency, and Uniband.

Alice and Steve traveled together throughout their marriage.  These trips included traveling all over the US and sometimes other countries.  She helped raise her grandchildren after her son Curtis passed away and raised her granddaughter, Pam, from the time she was an infant.

One of grandma's favorite past times was going to bingo and she frequently went with her sisters, Mary Rose, Mae, Emma, and her brother, Albert.

Alice and her husband enjoyed going to Spirit Lake, Walker, Bear Claw, Yorkton, Painted Hand in Saskatchewan and various other casinos in the US and Canada well into their 80's.

Grandma enjoyed going on Facebook and talking with her sisters and nieces.

Her and her husband enjoyed traveling together and grandpa always made sure to do something special on their anniversary even if it was dinner and taking the scenic route home. This year would have been 60 years.

Alice is survived by her husband Stephen, brother, Albert (Bev) Parisien; her children, Wade (Menissa), Terry, and Alan (Teresa) Renault; grandchildren, Kathy, Curtis Jr., Kelly, Eric, Emma, Pamela, Keith, Victoria, and Stephanie; 22 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Fred P. and Rose Z. Parisien, sons, Stephan, Curtis, and Carey, sisters, Mary Rose Morin, May Liggett, and Emma Brown, and a great grandson Eric Renault. Jr.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Dunseith, ND with a visitation beginning at 8:00 AM and Rosary Service at 9:00 AM prior to the funeral mass.  Burial will follow in St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Dunseith, ND.
