Alfred Schroeder Jr., age 48, of Rolette, ND passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at his home.

Alfred Joseph "Shummy" Schroeder Jr. was born on March 5, 1972 to Alfred Sr. and Carla (Vivier) Schroeder in Belcourt, ND.  Alfred was raised in Dunseith and attended Turtle Mountain Community Schools.  He graduated in 1991 and then attended Turtle Mountain Community College.  Alfred worked as a forestry fireman for the BIA.   He also worked as a security guard for Menards and Skydancer Casino.  Alfred was a master carpenter, inventor, and an out of the box thinker, he liked to be different and was outgoing, spontaneous and full of life and love.  Alfred enjoyed old ford trucks, traveling, family times, carpentry, working, and teasing his friends and his family.  He has four children, Jayten, Alfred III, Jaylynn, and Breanha, seven grandkids, and loved being a papa.  Alfred worked for the Skydancer Casino for 16 years.  He was engaged to Ashley Lattergrass and they shared a love for casino trips and traveling.

Alfred is survived by his fiancée, Ashley Lattergrass of Rolette; mother, Carla Schroeder of Dunseith; children, Jayten (Courtney) Barron of Dunseith, Alfred III (Della) Schroeder of Slydell, LA, Jaylynn Schroeder of Minot, and Breanha Schroeder of St. John; grandchildren, Zane, Dexter, Brooklynn, Jayten Jr., Bella, Landyn, Conner, Jaxon, and Aria; Goddaughters, Alexandria (Dylan) Johnson of Edmore and Summer Hulett of Dunseith; sister, Stephanie (Joseph) Morin of Dunseith; and brother, Steven (Charlene) Schroeder of Dunseith.

Alfred was preceded in death by his father, Alfred J. Schroeder Sr., paternal grandparents, Walter Sr. and Mary (Parisien) Schroder, maternal grandfather, Sylvester "Peeyashee" Vivier, nephew, Joshua L. Morin, great nephews, Sean Schroeder Jr. and Zander Hulett.

Casket Bearers are Mike Azure, Glenn Vivier, Joseph Morin, Robert Hulett, Jonathan Dionne, and Dylan Johnson.  Honorary Bearers are all family and friends.  Reader is Steve Belgarde.  Eucharistic Gifts by Steve and Marsha Belgarde.

A visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Wednesday , July 29, 2020 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND with a Rosary Service at 7:00 PM.  Funeral Mass will be Thursday, July 30,  2020 at 10:00 AM in the church with Fr. Dennis Mary Dugan presiding.  Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery, Belcourt, ND.
