Albert Leonard Jr., age 87, of St. John, ND passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at St. Kateri Hospital, Rolla, ND.

Albert Duane Leonard Jr. was born on October 14, 1934 in St. John, ND to Albert Sr. and Helen (Berginski) Leonard.  He was raised in St. John and completed his education there as well.  Albert enlisted in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge after 20 years of service.  He was awarded many medals during his service including Vietnam Campaign medal, Good Conduct medal, National Defense Service medal, Army Commendation Medal, two overseas bars, Meritorious Service medal, Vietnam Service medal, and the Bronze Star medal.  Albert moved away from the area and worked in electric appliance repair.  He was united in marriage to Trudy, she preceded him in death.  He moved back to the St. John area 5 years ago reuniting with family.   Albert enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing.  He will be loving remembered by his family members and friends.

Albert is survived by two brothers, Robert (Kay) Leonard of St. John and Larry (Blanche) Leonard of St. John; two sisters, Helen Belgarde of Devils Lake and Luella (Morris) Azure of Rolla; sister-in-law, Margaret Leonard of Jamestown; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Trudy, his parents, and brother, Lyle Leonard.
