Alan Smith, age 62, of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Eventide Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, ND.

Alan Craig Smith was born on June 20, 1961 in Tacoma, Washington to Francis and Donna (Hagerdorn) Smith.  He was raised in Tacoma and completed his education there as well.  Alan worked as a security guard most of his life. He had a wonderful personality, making fast friends with all whom he came in contact with.  Alan enjoyed photography, taking pictures of clouds, wildlife, and paranormal activity, which was a great interest to him.  He loved animals and any living thing he encountered, even the smallest of creatures.  Alan will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

Alan is survived by his companion, Sandra Azure of Devils Lake; siblings, Cheryl (Gerry) Smith of Washington, Vern Smith of Washington and Laura Denton of North Carolina; nieces, Theresa and Selena; nephews, Tino and James; and many, many friends.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Donna Smith and a sister, Lorraine Smith.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 1:00 PM in Roosevelt Park, Devils Lake, ND.  A Funeral Mass will also be said in honor of Alan on August 17, 2023 at 5:00 PM at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Belcourt, ND.
