Obituary

Addie Brunelle, age 88, of Belcourt, ND passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Quentin Burdick Memorial Health Care Facility, Belcourt, ND.

Addie was born September 7, 1933 in Belcourt, ND to Ferdinand and Emily (Lafromboise)

Jerome. Growing up, she attended multiple schools including St. Ann's Catholic School, Marty

Indian Boarding School, and Turtle Mountain Community Schools where she graduated in 1953.

After graduating from high school, she worked various jobs before getting married to Francis

"Sonny" Brunelle and moving to California.

Sonny & Addie were joined in marriage at St. Ann's Catholic Church on October 23, 1954. They

were married for 65 wonderful years at the time of Sonny's passing. Sonny and Addie were the

proud parents of five children; Karey, Sandy, Stewart, Michelle, and Deneen. They also raised

their granddaughter, Danielle.

In 1959, they relocated to California where they lived and worked for 11 years. They returned

home to Belcourt, ND in the summer of 1970. Addie enrolled in the teaching program through

the University of North Dakota and graduated in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in

Elementary Education. She worked as a 1 st grade teacher until retiring in December, 1991.

Sonny and Addie were also the owners of Belcourt Oil.

After retiring, Sonny & Addie spent a great amount of time traveling and traveled to every state

in the United States, almost all Canadian provinces, and Europe and Mexico. They also spent

many years being Snowbirds in Florida and Arizona. Most recently, in August of 2021, she

traveled to New York City with some members of her family.

Addie was always busy. Some of Addie's hobbies included reading, sewing, shopping, and

visiting family and grandchildren. She very much enjoyed the outdoors where she liked to fish,

go for walks, and ride the family's Polaris Ranger. Some of her favorite times included watching

her grandchildren and great grandchildren play basketball.

Addie passed away having received the Holy Viaticum and the last sacraments of the Roman

Catholic Church. She was surrounded by her family praying the rosary and Divine Mercy. Addie

believed and lived her Catholic faith religiously, often attending daily mass. One of her greatest

adventures was attending Midnight Mass with Sonny and seeing Pope John Paul II at St. Peters

Church in Vatican City.

Addie is survived by her five children, Karey Brunelle, Sandy Brunelle, Stewart Brunelle,
